A Qualitative Study on the Suicide and Recovery Experiences of Adolescents

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine psychosocial factors of suicide and recovery experiences of adolescents who had attempted suicide through in-depth interviews and qualitative analysis. The Participants were selected spontaneously among middle and high school students in Busan who have not tried suicide for more than 6 months after their last attempting suicide and have had 10 out of 100 points about suicidal desire. 7 adolescents of them had been interviewed about their attempt of suicide. The interview was doing one-to-one based on the semi-structured, and extracted data was subjected to analysis of CQR research method. According to the results, they felt worthless about themselves and thought suicide is the only solution for revenge of others. They experienced depression, anger, confusion for trying to forget the pain of attempting suicide and they affected negative effects and changed perspective on life after attempting suicide. Finally, they could overcome the difficulties through trying to change their attitude on their life and getting to support from others. Limitations to the current study and recommendations for future research are discussed.
